Taxes

  • As American citizens, it's important for us to fulfill our duty by paying taxes based on how much money we make each year.

  • If you're under 19 or under 24 and a full-time student, your parent/guardian can file your taxes for you. Instead of doing everything on paper, nowadays most people file their taxes online. This is called "e-filing." It's easier and more convenient.

  • There are websites like TaxSlayer or TurboTax that help you file your taxes online. They make the process smoother and more user-friendly.

  • Tax season starts at the end of January and ends around mid-April. That's when most people are busy preparing and filing their taxes.

  • If you need more time to file your taxes, you can ask for an extension. It gives you extra time, but you have to request it before the usual deadline.

  • When you file your tax return and you've paid too much in taxes, the government gives you a refund. If you e-file, you usually get your refund within about three weeks. If you mail your tax return, it may take longer to process and get your refund.
